Fire extinguished at JIF PlantNovember 26, 2012 36Pab, Lexington firefighters put out a fire at the JIF plant on Winchester Road Monday morning. Fire crews were called to the plant around 11:30 a.m. after a piece of machinery that roasts peanuts called a hopper ; caught fire. Firefighters say it helped that the company had fire preventative measures in place, such as a system that triggers sprinklers to come on in case of a fire.
